Movie Backlog Fixed

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

I missed adding last week’s movies so if you are wondering where they were, mystery solved. This shouldn’t happen again but since we’re beta testing it’s really not that big of a deal.

As we get closer the big summer blockbusters we will have our first contest. If you are reading this stay tuned for details. Plus we are almost ready with our t-shirts for those playing or about to start playing.

More testing, and some changes

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Movies, movies, movies. More testing with more people this week. In the mean time I am working on starting to get the word out about this hidden gem of a game. There will probably be a press release going out in a few weeks plus I may be lucky enough to score some radio time to shill for HollywoodRollers.com.

Plus we’ve added countdown timers for all the different actions during the week. We will be adding the option for players to get email notifications in the near future but that’s pretty low on the todo list.

Plus we should have t-shirts for some lucky beta tester/helpers in the coming weeks. Just got to find an artist I like enough to get the design done.

Moving on 2 Phase 2

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Since we have ironed out most of the major bugs and with the soft launch of the beta test phase we are moving on to the second phase of HollywoodRollers.com. Some upgrades to come are:

1. Images to go with talent in the auctions, talent agency, and on the home page.
2. A new game based on box office results. No it is not the standard lame “guess how much this movie will make game.” This is a totally new kind of game.
3. A referral system where if people you refer to the site win a prize you win the same prize.
4. Various interface changes to make the game simpler to learn and play.
5. A proper feedback system for bug reports and suggestions

We would love to hear feedback from the few of you that are playing now. Please feel free to leave comments in the blog for now.

Talent Agency Fix

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Talent was not being removed when players hired them in the talent agency. This has been fixed.

Bug Fixes

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

We just fixed the following:

1. Players attempting to join existing groups in IE.
2. Multiple actors showing up in the same auction line for the same movie

Movie Group Registration Problem

Friday, March 13th, 2009

We noticed a problem when new people register and try to join existing public groups. We are tackling this right now in order for beta testers play full games. We should have this fixed before the next cycle begins on Sunday at 7:00pm Est.

This should be the last bug that prevents all new members from playing.

Changes This Week

Monday, March 9th, 2009

We just added one of several count down timers. These will tell players when auctions and movie deadlines are coming up. They will be on each page and hopefully encourage more casual visitors to start playing.

This week we’re working on getting the home page squared away along with some minor game play bugs. Expect the home page navigation to be a bit wacky while we make changes.

There’s still a lot of testing to get through but we hope to have our first contest in less than a month.

More Like BETA-MAX Testing!

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Hello visitors and welcome to the beginning of something that better turn out to be cool! You are one of the first people to see what has taken thousands of my hjard earned cash and credit and 2 years of my life to build…………….Hollywood Rollers. Over the next few months we will be really testing this beast out with lots of prizes and contests.

Here’s the gist of what you are looking at. HollywoodRollers.com is to movies what fantasy football, baseball and basketball is to sports. A way to compete against your friends using your savant like knowledge of the movie industry. Basically instead of taking real athletes and putting them together into fake teams where the score is determined by real games, you will be doing the same thing with Hollywood movies. You will take real actors, directors, and producers and putting them into fake movies. We then use black magic to determine the fake box office results of your fake movie. Actually we use percentages of the real movies your talent is starring in to determine the results.

Sound easy? We kind of hope so. Anyway, it is late and I’ve got to get to bed. I hope you all enjoy playing my little creation and please stop back by to get updates, news, scoop on contests, and learn about whatever is on my mind about the movie industry.

CYA!
